It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Collins on November 28, 2024. He passed away peacefully, loved by family and close friends.
Born on December 20, 1952 in Edmonton, he was the third of eight children. Despite his many health challenges, he kept pace with his brothers and sisters enjoying life in a big, Catholic family. As a child, he joined 2 choirs. Peter had a lovely soprano voice and was often asked to sing “Ave Maria” at weddings in St. John the Evangelist Church.
Peter had many struggles in life which he faced with dogged determination. Pete earned a degree from Old’s College in Turf Management. He worked for many years as a successful landscaper and also at Home Depot. In later life, he became interested in photography, which was to serve as a hobby and an escape for him.
We are forever grateful for the amazing care he received from the staff at the Citadel Care Centre; from Dr. Macedo; and from the staff at the Sturgeon General Hospital.
Pete leaves to mourn his brothers: Tom (Lynne), Pat (Wendy), and Jerry; his sisters: Mary Jane (Richard), Sue (Joseph), and Eileen (Marc). In addition, he leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth, and his brother Mark.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm in St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to Hope Mission, PO Box 953, Edmonton, AB T5J 2L8.
Arrangments entrusted to Foster & McGarvey St. Albert Funeral Home.
