Gordon Talen

A beloved son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle, Gord was called home to his heavenly Father on Friday evening, surrounded by his family.

Gordon was the son of Jack and Rita; brother to Fred Talen (Dana), Linda Seinen (Ken), and Ron Talen (Coralee); uncle to Olivia, Kate (Adrian), Daniel, Rachel, Juliana, Larissa, and Amanda; and great-uncle to Carter.

Gord was loved by many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Gord is predeceased by grandparents: Fredrik and Alberta Talen, and Meeus and Lieuwkje Meeuse.

Gord lived a full and interesting life, choosing his own path and developing his own interests and passions. He bowled and swam for many years and bowled in the Special Olympics. He loved to travel. Gord graduated from McNally High School. Gord loved Westerns, country music and anything cowboy. His work experiences varied from restaurants to reshelving books at the Stony Plain library. He loved spending time with family. Gord never complained throughout many health challenges.

The family will be forever grateful for the kind, compassionate care provided by Rehoboth Christian Ministries for the last 26 years of his life. In particular, the family acknowledges his care givers: Steven, John, Joseph, Innocent, Remy “Mark,” and Joel.

Gord was a good friend, with a bright and cheerful smile. His catch phrase, "you betcha," will be missed by many.

A Funeral Service will take place at West End Christian Reformed Church (10015 149 St, Edmonton, AB) on December 16th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
