My thoughts and prayers are with you. George was one of the most consistently kind people I knew in Yellowknife. He clearly adored Kiraki and they both cared deeply about young people and the community of Yellowknife. I am honoured to have known them.

My heart is with you both on this sad day. We've lost a man who cared deeply about others and could bring a smile to another just by being his friendly self. He was very respected in Yellowknife. It was obvious how much he loved you Sandy . I remember seeing you both walking together and when we met I was always greeted with such enthusiasm and joy. Evie your mom and dad worked hard to provide a good start for you. I am sure he is very proud of you. Yellowknife was never the same after Canadian Pizza was gone. May he rest in peace.

Sending condolences to the entire Varelas family during this difficult time. George was such a warm, kind person who always had a smile for everyone he met. He used to say that he knew me when I was little which I got a kick out of. He was SO much more than the best pizza maker. Last time I saw him and his beautiful wife was at the Edmonton Food Fesitval. What a wonderful surprise to see them both! May your memories comfort you at this time.

Eleni sorry to hear about your dad passing away. Even though it has been many years since we last saw you we remember the times you spent with our daughter Chris. Our sympathy goes out to you and your family at this sad time. George had the best pizza in town and we missed him a lot when he retired and moved away. He always was so pleasant whenever he came to the house.

I am very sorry to hear of George Varelas passing. Deepest Sympathy to the Family. I remember when George lived in Yellowknife and operated a great family business - Canadian Pizza. He was a hard worker and treated his customers with such kindness. He had a wonderful way of making everyone feel special. I will always remember his LOVE for Greece and his beautiful smile. RIP George
