Obituary

Charles Shelley passed away on December 18th. He had lived almost 92 years. He was born in Budapest, Hungary and escaped communism with his wife and two children to the freedom of Canada. He worked as an engineer and architect in the municipal sector, rising to city manager in two municipalities in the greater Montreal area. He moved to Alberta in the 1970s, working as President of Alberta Housing Corporation and Chair of the Local Authorities Board. His passions were his family, travel, music, reading and storytelling. He was a great help to people he knew, advocating for and mentoring them.

His beloved wife, Judy, predeceased him. He is survived by his sister Marianne, and two sons, Gabe (Connie) and Paul (Barb), four grandchildren (Paul, David, Trevor, Eric) and five great-grandchildren (Lauren, Megan and Vyvian, Cale and Colin).

A family celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to University Hospital Foundation.
