Obituary

Lillian passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Edmonton General Palliative Care Unit 9Y in Edmonton.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ernie in 2006; her brother and five sisters.

She leaves to cherish her daughter, Kathleen (Peter); sons, Douglas (Patricia), David (Kelly), Darrell (Deanna), and Geoffrey (Diane); grandchildren, Jason (Lindsay), Ryan (Shannon), Jarred (Amanda), Rikki (Dave), Kirk (Courtney), Keelin, Kenna, Jordan and Logan; and great grandchildren, Tylan, Natalya, Wyatt, Grayson, Hannah and Alexandria. Lillian is also survived by one sister, Ida Zerr; and one brother-in-law, Dick Kornelson and one sister-in-law, Eve Haakonsen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mom was born and raised in Allan, Saskatchewan, the youngest of eight children, born to J.J. and Matilda Weninger. Upon graduation she moved to Saskatoon and took her nurses training at St. Pauls Hospital. In 1956 she married Ernie Boechler. With Ernie being with the RCMP, his career took them to Creston, Nelson, Kamloops, from there they moved to Coquitlam B.C., Edmonton and Red Deer AB. Not only was mom a very much hands on mom but she also worked as the nurse in Woodward's store in Kamloops. Mom also did some nursing in an old folk's home in Coquitlam; she was a sales clerk in Red Deer and mom was also an Insurance Company's nurse who went to the homes to get the medical history of their clients. Retirement brought mom and dad back to Saskatoon, then to Edmonton and once again back to Saskatoon. After dad passed away mom moved to Medicine Hat for ten years. Mom's last two years were spent in Edmonton. At all of these various places mom volunteered on the condo boards, called bingo, was in the church choir and even sang in a trio with some very dear friends. She was also a lifelong member of the CWL.

Besides enjoying camping in their 5th wheel camper for almost 20 years, mom was the biggest fan of her children, then grandchildren, watching and cheering them on in whatever sport they were playing. Mom also loved all kinds of card games, painting, singing and baking.

Family wishes to thank the staff at the Edmonton General Unit 9Y for their wonderful care.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
