Obituary

Ray passed away on Friday the 12th in the watchful care of the staff at The Kipnes Centre for Veterans. Heart-felt thanks to them from the family.

Ray was predeceased by Frances, the mother of his children, and Odette, his second wife. His widow, Lorna McGhee Lane, is left to grieve his loss as are his children, Ian Lane and Ruth Kanter; his grandchildren, Cassandra and Clinton, and many nephews and nieces.

Ray served with a Canadian Armoured Brigade during the invasion of Normandy (WW II). Later, he established an Evangelical Church in Devon, Alberta, and then worked at the Imperial Oil Refinery in Edmonton until retirement at 65.

His book, In Chariots of Iron, about his war-time experiences was published by Pagemaster Publications, and four of his paintings hang in the National War Museum.

A Memorial Service for friends and family will be held at a later date in Bonnie Doon Baptist Church.
