Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce that Gerry Kuipers passed away suddenly on May 13, 2013.

He was born on July 31, 1935, and immigrated to Canada in 1954. A man of abiding faith, he joined a vibrant Reformed Christian Community in Edmonton, where he met his wife Wilma Scholten. They married in 1960 and raised four children, during which time Gerry started and maintained a successful small business-Rainbow Eavestroughing Co. (later Rainbow Metal Products). He passionately pursued many hobbies taht portrayed a keen interest in the past.

Left to cherish his memory are Wilma, his loving wife of 52 years; his four children, their spouses and his grandchildren, Grenda Kuipers-Witten and Ralph Witten (Marlow, Jeremy, Graham); Jolanda and Henry Kuipers (Gered, Alex, Monica, Jordan); Ronald A. Kuipers and Cheryl Hanson (Olivia, Benjamin). He is also survived by three sisters, Annie, Aly, and Dien, and predeceased by his parents Hendrik and Johanna, and his sister Gerda.

A Visitation will be held Friday, May 17, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Forster & McGarvey Funeral Home. 10011-114 Street, Edmonton. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at Orthodox Reformed Church of Edmonton, 11610-95A Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rehoboth Christian Ministries, 3920-49 Avenue, Stony Plain, AB, T7Z 2J7.
