Dear Jo and family, the SCM of India family mourns for the loss of our dear friend Vernen. We gratefully remember his services to scm in early sixties. The farewell message to him in 1968 says "He was convinced that the greatest challenge to the relevance of the Gospel today lay in its relevance to the struggles and aspirations of under-developed people everywhere for a fuller and a more human life.". We thank God for all of his committed services to SCM. Heartfelt gratitude to him. We continue to pray for God's comfort be with you.

Dear Jo and family,
It was with sadness that I learned of Vern's passing from Judy Shand. I remember fondly my days attending Garneau United. Vern's first Sunday at Garneau was also my first Sunday there. During my next three years at the U. of A. I was happy to have a spiritual community at Garneau that was both stimulating and comforting. With Vern, George Tuttle and Howie Mills there was richness in the worship services, the after-worship discussion groups and the mid-week educational and social events. I am pleased to have shared those years in Vern's, and your, company. My heart goes out to you and I extend my sincere condolence.
