In Loving Memory of

Bernice Widney

Jun 17, 2024

On June 17, 2024, we said goodbye to a remarkable woman. Bernice Widney embodied the phrase “a life well lived” and inspired her family to take all the joy living can give.

Bunny was born in Argyle, Manitoba, on a small farm with her beloved siblings: Frank, Ray, Stan, Elsie, and Shirley. As a young woman, she moved to Winnipeg to begin her modelling career, where she met and married Dan Anstruther. Together they had three children – Tom, Susan, and Nancy – moved to multiple provinces, had many jobs, and made great friends along the way.

In 1979 she married Dan Widney and moved to Edmonton, where they began their life together until his passing in 2014.

Bunny loved to travel and indeed saw the world on many trips with dear friends. She loved her cabin at Pigeon Lake, wintering in Arizona, and spending time with her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Together she and Dan were instrumental in donating to the University Hospital Foundation for the Intra-Operative 3T MRI unit, one of their proudest moments.

We could list all her amazing accomplishments but to us, her biggest contribution was her spirit and energy. She made a choice to be happy and enjoy life, and charmed everyone who crossed her path. Bunny lived her life with grace and humor, and inspired all who knew her to aspire to those qualities.

We’d like to thank the staff at Exquisicare for their loving care that enabled her to live at her home until she passed.

At Bunny’s request, there will be no service.
