On December 27, 2024, Otto Rypstra of Edmonton went to be with his savior in his eternal home, at the age of 90 years.

Otto was born in Rijswijk, the Netherlands on June 12, 1934, to Jelle & Grietje Rypstra, the 8th of 17 children.

Otto is remembered by his loving wife of 67 years, Imma; four children: Wayne, Rod (Michele), Ed (Brenda) and Ella Mae (Jerome); grandchildren, Doug & Tahn (Brynlee & Myles); Janelle & Steve (Marcus, Suzanna & Cobi); Jonathan & Dakota (Waylon & Georgia); Emily & Stuart; Joel; Maria & Shane (Ella & Norah), Andrew & Reid; Julia & Chad, and Olivia. He is also remembered by his sisters, Jenny, Greta, Henny and Coby, as well as many relatives and friends.

Otto was predeceased by his oldest granddaughter, Melissa; her husband, Brendan and their two children, Evelyn & Colton. He was also predeceased by 6 brothers, 6 sisters and his parents, Jelle and Greitje.

Viewing will take place on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street NW. Private interment will be held prior to the Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 11905 – 47 Street NW, Edmonton.
