Surrounded by his loving family, Leo William Whalley, of Edmonton, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2014, at the age of 93 years. He was born April 1, 1920 in St. James, Manitoba. Leo was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Margaret; parents, Bertha and James; brother, Jim; son-in-law, Larry; and grandson-in-law, Troy.
Leo, a veteran of WWII, was an avid painter and will be remembered enjoying family gatherings, crossword puzzles, golf, and olives (with a little martini on the side). He led his life as an example of faithfulness, patience, kindness, and generosity. Leo will be greatly missed by his six children: Bill (Vicki), Peter (Linda), Pat, Maureen (Ken), Elaine (Roger), Joanne; his fourteen grandchildren: Erin (Denise), Jillian (Mathieu), Christine (Kyle), Carol, Jeff, Andrea, Stacey, Angie (Jordan), Liam (Leah), Janel, Elysia (Peter), Patrick, Margaret (Derek), Collin; and his thirteen great-grandchildren: Sarah, Elena, Cameron, Logan, Hunter, Allie, Arwyn, Norah, Dexter, Aidan, Peyton, James, Gabriel; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Prayer Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th, 2014 at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8th, 2014 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 10555-50A Street, Edmonton. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Royal Oak Burial Park in Victoria, BC.
