Condolences

Dear Greta, we were very sorry to hear of Harry's passing, please, accept our heartfelt sympathy. While we did not see each other since you both visited us in Leslie's studio long time ago, we remember him. He was a true gentleman and a trustful representative of the Edmonton Journal, dealing with him was a pleasure. May time's passing and your memories help you in your pain and may you have peace in your heart! Marianne and Leslie Takach

Dearest Auntie Greta, Andrew, Robert and family! My heart is broken for you all, and myself, for the loss of Uncle Harry! He was a kind and wonderful man and a strong fighter to the end. Even though I didn't have a chance to see him in these last years, I have fond memories of him from my childhood and beyond. The emails back and forth were a blessing. You are all in my heart and in my prayers at this difficult time. Love to you all. Love Ina (deJong) Christensen and family

Auntie Greta, Andrew and Robert, I am so deeply sorry for your loss of your husband and father to that miserable disease. I know that I haven't maintained much of a connection with you or Uncle Harry over these last many years, and that's on me. I do know that you are mourning a wonderful husband and father and I'm heartbroken for you. I will always be grateful for the kindness that Uncle Harry showed my Dad these last years. I will forever have wonderful memories of Uncle Harry from my childhood. I remember like it was yesterday when he took me for rides on his motorbike and drove around with him in his first car. Here is a poem that has brought comfort to me and I hope it will bring a little comfort to you in this difficult time: When I die Give what’s left of me away To children And old men that wait to die. And if you need to cry, Cry for your brother Walking the street beside you. And when you need me, Put your arms Around anyone And give them What you need to give to me. I want to leave you something, Something better Than words Or sounds. Look for me In the people I’ve known Or loved, And if you cannot give me away, At least let me live on in your eyes And not your mind. You can love me most By letting Hands touch hands, By letting bodies touch bodies, And by letting go Of children That need to be free. Love doesn’t die, People do. So, when all that’s left of me Is love, Give me away. "Epitaph" by Merrit Malloy All of you, please take care. Mike
