Guy Fausto Demarino

Hi Judy- We were surprised to hear of Guy's sudden death but comforted knowing that it was short term suffering. We have fond memories of Guy's spaghetti dinners while in London and the Christmas we spent together many years ago. While searching for some family photos we found your wedding photo where we were the "official" photographers. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Sheila and Floyd

Sorry to hear of Guy's passing. I worked with him for many years at The Edmonton Sun. He was a talented and committed professional with a superb work ethic and great sense of humor. He was a man who was fun to be around.

I am so sorry to hear that Guy has gone on his last journey into the great unknown. I sat across from Guy at the Edmonton Sun for years. Or, to be more exact, I sat across from his desk -- since he was rarely in the office. Then he would suddenly appear, tanned and excited about his latest trip, and we all thought he had the best gig at the paper. My condolences to you all. Mindy Jacobs

Dearest Judy: I am so sorry that we have lost Guy. I always remember our first camping trip with you, when Mischa was less than 3 months old and I had him strapped into my back pack. I was so excited because we would be camping with the food critic of, what was then to me, the world. When I asked Guy what he was bringing for food he said "Thirty sandwhiches". My prayers are with you and your family. God bless.

So sorry to read of the passing of our old friend and colleague Guy. In addition to being a very accomplished journalist of the old school, he was one of the funniest and most positive people I ever worked worked with - a constant source of brilliant stories from a lifetime of experience. A great character, and for a (then) young editor a welcome source of sound advice. Guy joined The Edmonton Sun at a time when it still took some guts to move from The Journal to an upstart paper (The Sun had been around for about 7 years). He brought a fantastic array of contacts from across the world, and over the next 15 years he demonstrated a sense of deep professionalism in everything he did. He was much loved and respected by his colleagues. Our condolences to his family. Paul and Rene Stanway.

I was saddened to learn about Guy's death from our mutual colleague Paul Jackson. When I worked with Guy at The Edmonton Journal in the sixties my then wife Ann and I became good friends with Guy and Judy. Guy was proud to be a self-made man and would chastise the young people of the day who demanded government help for their education. He was a true conservative.
