Condolences

Condolences to the Widney Family. I always enjoyed chatting with Dan when walking through the Summer Village of Norris Beach.

Although I have not seen Dan for many years, he will be in my memory bank forever- He was a good friend of my parents in the 1950's in Calgary, and was at our house many times with Jackie, his first wife. He was always referred to by us kids as "Uncle Dan," so we could call him by his first name. He was truly larger than life, and always so gracious to us, and funny. He sometimes got funnier later in the evening after a "child's portion" or two, as did my Dad. Quite a few years went by before we met again, my wife and I having moved to Toronto- Dan was visiting my parents in Calgary, and I happened to be in town. He hadn't changed a bit, except for hair color- same gracious man, great laugh! My father had the utmost respect for Dan, as do I- a straight shooter,of a type you don't see many of any more. I am sure he will be sadly missed by all, including me. My respects to you all.
