Obituary
Willem was born September 17, 1931 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The family lived in various places, however they settled in Den Helder during WWII. He met Annie in 1949, and they married on December 27, 1956. After one year, they immigrated to Canada and had four children: Corrine, Gerhard, Yolanda and Ronald.
Willem worked most of his years as a marine engineer, later becoming a truck driver, and finally with the Commissionaires. On March 20, his doctor told him not to work anymore. On June 9, 2017, he had heart surgery, and on August 27, 2017, he passed away peacefully and is now with his Father in Heaven.
He is predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Willem is survived by his wife, Annie; brother Ralph rietel; sister Els Buurmeester; children Corrine (Tom) Mennen, Gerhard Rietel, Yolanda Thorpe, and Ronal Rietel; as well as eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
