Obituary

Vivian Irene Greenleese Storr, July 15, 1916 - November 19, 2019.

Vivian was the middle child and a surviving twin of five children, born during WWI. Coming of age during the Depression in a household headed by her widowed mother, Vivian was pragmatic and independent. While still living at home and working part-time for Woodwards as a relief cashier, she graduated with a BA in Commerce from the University of Alberta, when attending university was less common for women to do (and she later always managed the household money).

After WWII, Vivian met my grandfather, Donald Storr, while they were both working at the weather office in Edmonton, and within a year they married. This was a good match and they were truly happy and devoted to each other. Vivians love for Don was steadfast and she supported him through years of dementia. The couple raised two daughters, Sheila (Marks) and Lorrie Storr. Then there were the grandchildren: Niki Storr, Bradley Marks, Bran Adams, Morgan Adams, and Coel Adams. And, the great-grandchildren: Jack and Ben Marks, then Xander and William Adams. Vivian loved travel and always wanted to do it more. She was very social and loved to entertain. When living on Saltspring Island, BC, she was an avid and successful bridge player, golfer, hiker, gardener, baker, crafter, and homemaker. The family will especially remember her Christmases with lots of homemade treats and handmade decorations. Vivian was generous, never spoke ill of others, and was supportive without being directive. At 103 years-old, she was the last remaining leaf of her generation on the family tree. Vivian passed in her sleep with Sheila and Lorrie by her side. And, if there is another side to cross over to, we hope that she is now enjoying herself back in the company of the loved ones who went before her. She was the hub of our family and we will miss her.

In Loving Memory of
Vivian Storr
