On Saturday May 29, 2021, Claire Kirkland passed away peacefully at the age of 100.
She is survived by her five children: Audrey Martyn, Harry Kirkland (Patricia), Peter Kirkland, Norman Kirkland and Paul Kirkland (Lynn). Six grandchildren Michael Martyn (Karen) and David Martyn(Christy); Matthew ( Jenna) Kirkland and Claire Kirkland (Fred); Erin Kirkland and Kira Kirkland. Six great-grandchildren. Evan and Noah Martyn; Kesina and Rya Martyn; Dominic and Renee; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William Dalton Kirkland, son-in-law John Martyn, brother Victor Féguenne, two sisters Audrey Milligan and Marguerite Childs, and her parents Marguerite and Pierre Féguenne.
Claire lived in Edmonton her whole life and was an active member at St. Georges Anglican Church for 37 years. She served as a volunteer in her community and for the Edmonton Symphony Women’s Committee. Claire’s greatest joy was her family, and her kindness and generous spirit will be missed by all those who knew her.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday July 9, 2021, at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton. A private interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Eye Institute of Alberta at the Royal Alex Hospital, 10240 Kingsway NW, Edmonton, T5H 3V9.
The family gratefully acknowledges the care of staff at Devonshire Assisted Living as well as the care of Dr. Andrew Spak.
