Obituary
Peter will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Grace Witten and her daughters, Melanie (Harold) and Jamie (Ryan), and son-in-law Cam; son, Mike (Karen) de Vries, and their children, Jason (Leanne), Shawn, Kimberly, and Peter; daughter, Pearl (Thomas) Kapiniak and their daughters, Taya (Darnell) and Antonia (Joseph); son-in-law, Derrick Dykman and his children, Bradley, and Marie (Bryce); daughter, Theresa de Vries and her daughter, Jeannine, Stephen; daughter, Hilda de Vries and her sons, Luke, Kirk (Jennifer), and Travis; his 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his 2 wives, Hilda and Joanna; daughter, Adelaide Dykman; granddaughter, Julie Land; and son-in-law, John Witten.
Peter was born August 20, 1929, to Willem and Grace de Vries in the Netherlands. He married Hilda Holwerda, and they immigrated to Edmonton, Canada in 1951 where they raised their six children: Grace, Mike, Pearl, Adelaide, Theresa, and Hilda. His wife Hilda passed away in 1990. He met and married his second wife, Joanna in 1991. They moved to Duncan, B.C. to start their new lives together and this is where they spent the next 26 years. Joanna passed away in 2017 and then Peter relocated to Sherwood Park, AB, to be near family.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. om Monday, May 15, 2023, at Westlawn Memorial Gardens, 16310 Stony Plain Rd, Edmonton.
