1946 - 2023
On 8th August 2023, Twila Joan Thompson of Edmonton, Alberta passed away at the age of 77.
She is survived by her husband, John; sons, Graham and Rhys; brother, Gerald; sister, Susan; and a network of extended family across Canada.
Twila taught as an elementary teacher at Tempo School for several decades, and will be remembered by many students. She had a warm and caring disposition, and received many "favorite teacher" mementos. Additionally, she sponsored foster children abroad and contributed to nature conservation trusts.
Born in Winnipeg, Twila moved to Edmonton in the 1970s and became a regular at the Strathcona Farmer's Market. She was a keen gardener and a dog enthusiast. Known to mail greeting cards at birthdays and holidays, she was famed for her neat handwriting.
Her family extend their appreciation to the Cross Cancer institute, the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the Ashbourne Community Residence, where she lived for eighteen months before her passing.
