Obituary

On Wednesday, November 30, 2011, Walter Reginald Fryers passed away surrounded by family at the age of 98 years. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kay Callaway (Douglas) and son, John Fryers (Marla); his grandchildren, Candace, Ryan (Andriana) and Bree-anne; brother, Clifford (Marie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith Fryers; sister, Marjorie, and brothers, Al and Mel. Walter lived a full and varied life. He always enjoyed the north and lived for a brief time near Hudson Bay as part of Operation Muskox. He had a full career as a Meteorologist with the Armed Forces and pursued his many interests which included becoming a pilot of his own aircraft, hobby farming and enjoying outdoor activities such as skating on Cold Lake and snowmobiling. Some of his happiest times as a child and adult were spent at Ingolf in the summer. He was a voracious reader with a sharp intellect. His wonder and curiosity of science was passionate to his last day.
