Obituary
On September 13, 2013 our dear mother, grandma and great-grandma, Maria �Rie� Van Etten was called Home to be with her Lord and Savior.
Rie was born in Muiden, The Netherlands on December 30, 1922 and immigrated to Canada with her husband and first daughter in 1951. Over time the family grew to include one more daughter and two sons. Rie�s faith shaped her life and she treasured her times of devotion, prayer and worship.
A wonderful family person and devoted mother, Rie will be dearly missed by her children, Marina (Larry) Vande Griend, Betty (Jim) Switzer, Jim (Monica) Van Etten and Jonathan Van Etten; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind one sister; five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 58 years, John �Jan�; four sisters and three brothers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Laurier House Lynnwood for the wonderful care they provided Rie during the last two years.
Friends who wish to pay their respects may do so on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 - 114 Street, Edmonton. A service of thanksgiving for God�s faithfulness in Rie�s life will be held at First Christian Reformed Church, 10956 - 96 Street, Edmonton on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
