Obituary

Psalm 121:1 & 2 ff "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth".

The Lord, in His time, took to Himself our dear husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Derk VanderVeen, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Martje for almost 63 years. Dear father of Martha & Casey VanSeters, Bonita & John VanPopta, Corry & Jake Bos, Steve VanderVeen, Henry & Carolyn VanderVeen, Calvin VanderVeen, Ron & Audrey VanderVeen, Fran & Marty Woudstra, Sandy & Chuck Phillips, Barb & Rolf VanRietschoten, Andrew VanderVeen and Sylvia & Adrian VandenHaak. Loving grandfather to 48 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 61 great-grandchildren. One of 18 children, he is survived by his 2 sisters in the Netherlands, Corrie and Truida.

To commemorate his passing, on Friday, October 27, 2017, we will be having an Immediate and Close family, internment at Northern Lights Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. This will be followed by a Memorial Service held at 1:30 p.m. in the Immanuel Canadian Reformed Church, 21112-35 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta.

We would also like to take this time to thank the Sturgeon General Hospital in St. Albert for their love and care over Derk. Because Derk suffered from prostate cancer, in lieu of flowers please donate to cancer research at www.cancer.ca/donate.
