Obituary

Following a morning surrounded by family, love and friends with his favorite music playing, Thomas Bryant passed away on April 15, 2021 at the age of 74.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his children: Danielle Bryant, Rachelle Byers (Marshall), Richard Bryant and Jordan Bryant; grandchildren, Ayden Bryant-Giroux and Rael Byers; sister, Bonnie (Brian) Hrdlicka and nephews: Brandon, Adam, Ash, Curtis and families. Tom was predeceased by his parents Jack and Dorothy Bryant.

A caring circle of friends will dearly miss Tom. He considered Sieg and Marilyn (children: Cody and Breanna) Wegewitz his Edmonton family and found unconditional love and true friendship in them. In dad’s words, the very best friends and we are thankful for all they’ve done. Tom’s neighbour Don Cameron is a kind soul and loyal friend who was there for dad in his darkest hour. We are grateful for all the help and care he has shown both dad and us. Tom also shared many years of friendship with Stan Rogers.

Tom had a full and active life and always gave 110% in all he did. As a young man he earned his black belt in white crane, he loved martial arts and continued practicing tai chi his whole life. He could often be found at the roller-skating rink and that’s where he met our mom. Tom was a big kid himself, he loved having children and sharing adventures with them. There were summer vacations to visit family in true Griswold style, backyard skating rinks, bike rides and play wrestling. Summers at Charlie Lake spent fishing and hot dogging behind his boat, hooting and hollering, sharing his love of water skiing and knee boarding with his family and friends.

Tom, The Hockey Doctor, along with his sons spent many happy years as a Trainer for the Hythe Mustangs and was extremely proud when they won the ’93, ’94, ’95 & ’96 CPHL Championships. He started AJ’s Pro Skate and was at home in arenas and later his own shop. Sharpening skates was his passion and his last day at home he did a pair. Tom was one of a kind and we’ll miss his flair for telling a story, his excessive coats of paint, having everything screwed down, his love of anything red and the enthusiasm with which he did everything.

A Celebration of Life will be held once restrictions ease. Memorial donations may be made in Tom’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation #144-5241 Calgary Trail NW Edmonton, AB T6H 5G8 www.heartandstroke.ca
