Obituary

Craig died at the age of 72 years on July 19, 2021, in the same way that he lived – with extreme courage and with love and pride for his family. He is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Alison (Greg) O’Neill; grandson Coleman; son Keith (Heather); and granddaughters Rachel, Meghan, and Angela. Also mourning his death, sister in-law Barb (Dave) MacLaren and extended family and many friends. Craig battled serious health problems starting in his twenties. His inner strength helped him through his recoveries. However, his recent battle with PSP could not be overcome. Despite these setbacks, Craig led an incredibly successful, happy, and active life without complaint. He was an active community volunteer but most loved coaching his children in hockey, ringette, and soccer. He was always there for others. Craig graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor’s degree in Education but entered the business world as he was needed to run the family company. This led to a varied and successful business career. His integrity and compassion were respected by his peers and his employees. He was an accomplished athlete and played at a high level in baseball, hockey, football, and rugby. He was an avid golfer but never overcame his need to ‘crush’ the ball. Downhill skiing was his passion. Many wonderful ski trips were enjoyed with family and friends. Seba Beach has been the family’s main retreat, where Craig loved weekend warrior projects. He successfully mastered carpentry, plumbing and boat repair, all with the motto ‘Bigger Problem, Bigger Hammer’. Craig will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, thoughtfulness, big smile and his many, many jokes. He received wonderful care from his many doctors and other individuals in the medical community. The family wishes to thank them for their care and compassion. Following Craig’s wishes, his cremation will be followed by a private family celebration of life. Craig has requested that any donations be made to the Edmonton Food Bank in his memory.
