Norma Elaine Edgar died on May 16, 2013 at the age of 94 years.

She was born Norma Elaine Farnam in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to a well-known pioneer family. There she spent her early life, attending school and University of Saskatchewan from which she graduated in 1940 with a B.Sc. in Home Economics. This was followed by a year at Toronto Western Hospital where she completed her internship in Hospital Dietetics.

Norma was married in 1942 to Norman Edgar, a mining engineer from Regina who graduated from Queens University in 1939. At the time of their marriage he was a member of the R.C.A.F., later retiring as Wing Commander at the end of World War II. After the war his mining career took them many places, one of which was a little gold mining camp in the bush near the Arctic Circle. There they went with their two very small boys, David and Richard. Later, they moved to Yellowknife, Calgary, and Edmonton. Norma has resided in Edmonton since 1955. Norman died suddenly in 1970. Norma enjoyed gardening, cooking, golf, knitting, music and books. She never sought the limelight, but in a quiet way offered comfort and help when needed.

Norma leaves four sons and their wives: David and Rosslyn (Berry), Richard and Marjorie (Allan), Peter and Charlotte (Vermeulen), Bruce and Elspeth (MacDonald). She also leaves 16 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. She lived a long and happy life and tried to live it well with consideration for others, and gratitude for its blessings.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Farnam; sister and brother -in-law, Ruth and James Simpson; and brother, Bruce Farnam. Norma would want all of her family and friends to remember the good years together and smile, rather than be sad that she is gone. She would want her beloved family to stay close and to love one another as she has always loved them.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 at St. Paul�s United Church, 11526 - 76 Avenue, Edmonton.
